The thought of ancient peoples carving into rock, marking hides with natural dyes, or constructing huge spirals in a field has held my interest for as long as I can remember.  The communication of events, beliefs, observations from another time is intriguing: stories and conversations of the past.

I view my paintings as chronicles of conversation.  The dialogue may be casual at times or very considered at others.  Symbolism of the subject and the significance of found objects are recurrent concepts.  The process of painting is as highly valued as the finished product.

Many paintings are of transitional periods of time or journeys, as I imagine ancient drawings were.  They often record the issues of maternity, vocation and the choices therein.

Born in San Diego, California, I was almost immediately relocated to the east coast and Charleston, South Carolina where I spent my very happy childhood.  After several years in Georgia and Alabama, Baton Rouge has been home to our family for over thirty years.  Having lived and traveled throughout the South, I am indelibly influenced by its beauty, its culture, and its people.
